SMOKEY OKEY SET OUT IN 2017 TO CELEBRATE EVERYTHING HE LOVED ABOUT AFRICAN STREET FOOD
In 2017, Smokey Okey was able to perfect the recipe of its most popular and signature dish SUYA. After a very positive response from family and close friends, he decided to hit the events scene. He spent the next few years travelling up and and down the country doing events .
Smokey Okey was founded by Okey Anyanwu and came about as a result of Okey's love of BBQ and smoked meats, and his general passion for cooking.
Okey decided in June 2019, to quit his job as a Technical Manager for a leading Advertising agency to pursue his dream.
Our food is built on traditional family recipes and takes inspiration from childhood memories in Nigeria. These flavours and tastes from Africa are combined with low-and-slow cooking techniques from America, to create what we call African Soul Food.
